Child Star Gone Wrong

Lindsay Lohan began her acting career as an adorable, innocent little girl playing the dual role of twins in the movie Parent Trap.  This was her first role in a movie which gave her a great start for a very successful future.  Over the years, people watched Lindsay grow up in the world of Hollywood.  For a long time, she was a respected and well-liked role model for young girls that followed her career.  She was a part of movies like Freaky Friday, Mean Girls,  Herbie, Just My Luck and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.  All which became fan favorites and helped her career grow immensely.  She continued to be an example of the nice girl-next-door type to her fans and the media for many years and was expected to have a long, success-filled career in the movie business. Unfortunately that was not the case.

Within the past few years, Lindsay Lohan has been portrayed in the media not for her acting career or good deeds, instead for her excess partying, stays in rehab, pregnancy rumors and a new girlfriend.  One thing after another, the scandals keep coming to light and the media took ever advantage they could of the situation, exploiting her to the fullest extent.  Now I am not saying that her lifestyle choices over the past few years have been the best, but everyone makes mistakes and has problems.  Due to her involvement in the entertainment industry, her screw-ups make great headlines and stories for the media to feed on.  Being a celebrity brings attention to you ever single move, there is all someone watching you simply waiting for you to screw-up so the can use your down-falls for their own benefit.

I often wonder why Lindsay and many other child stars like her seem to end up going down the wrong path, turning to drugs, alcohol, sex and other vices as the grow up in the entertainment industry.  Is Hollywood to blame for the corruption of so many talented, young stars that end up in rehab or with a doomed career?  Or is it the celebrity them self who can't handle the attention and stardom at such a young age eventually overwhelming them to the point of a breakdown?  Whose to blame for the demise of so many child stars of the years and how can we break the cycle?

**ADDITION**

Here is a link to a website that posts preview and link to all articles that are or have been written about Lindsay Lohan at some time.  I thought this was interesting because it just goes to show how much media attention is spent on stars that create controversy and make for a good story.  I think you can also search other celebrities to find a archive of articles written about them as well.
